Baccarat Rules: How to Play Baccarat

Baccarat is a card comparing casino game that consists of 12 to 14 gamblers on the baccarat table with three casino croupiers. Most high-rollers favor this game as you can win big with it. However, baccarat rules are stringent and do not allow gamblers to choose many options, making winning streaks challenging to achieve. To improve your chances of winning, you have to learn how to play baccarat before splurging any cash.

The Betting Area

Baccarat is a relatively simple game, and you can place bets on three types of bets:

  • Player wager.
  • Banker bet.
  • Tie (standoff).

In baccarat, all participants play with the same hand value, but the official baccarat rules give you the option of dealing a second hand. However, most online and land-based casinos only offer gamblers one hand, which narrows down the wagering options for players.

The Layout

The game revolves around a dice table with a distinctive baccarat layout. The size of the baccarat table is the same as a craps table. Between 12 to 14 gamblers can participate in the game and sit around the table, while three croupiers manage the baccarat table. Two of the croupiers handle players at each side of the dice table, and the last one manages the whole game of baccarat.

Playing the Game

The gamblers can place their bet on the player’s hand, banker’s hand, or a tie. The card dealer then will provide two cards each for the player, then the banker. The goal is to bet on the hand that you think will boast the highest total points.

Once all wagers have been placed, there are no more chances to change your decision. After that, the dealer will deal two cards to themselves and one for the gambler who is playing the hand. The croupier will then announce two statements:

  • A card for the player is when the gambler must draw a card.
  • A card for the banker is when the banker must draw a second card.

You can determine the hand value by adding the number of the person’s cards. Tens and face cards hold a value of zero, while other cards hold a number value of pips on the card face, and only the last digit of the total is counted.

All baccarat hand values can range between 0 to 9. The hand with the higher value wins, and if both the player and the banker have the same total points, then the result is a tie.

The Rules

Baccarat rules for the player’s hand

  • If the player’s two first cards have a total of six or more, then the gambler does not draw any additional cards.
  • If the sum of the player’s card is five or less, then they have the grant to draw extra cards.

Baccarat rules for the banker’s hand

  • When the total of the banker’s first two cards is seven or more, they cannot draw any additional cards.
  • When the banker’s sum first two cards are 0, 1, or 2, they can pull one extra card.
  • When the banker’s first two cards have a total of three to six, either the gambler or banker can draw an additional card.
